We welcome applications from suitably qualified sailors to skipper a boat on one of our cruising adventures. You must be able to provide evidence of significant prior experience for the size of yacht you wish to take and the difficulty rating for the cruising grounds we'll be sailing in, and also provide evidence of certification to a minimum of the Coastal Cruising standard under either of the US Sailing, ASA or RYA training programs.  Skippers must be awesome people managers whose aim is to ensure that everyone on their boat remains safe at all times and that they enjoy an incredible, fun adventure throughout the trip.

Skipper applicants will be contacted by DC Sailing Community to discuss their suitability for skippering a boat. Skipper registrations are accepted at the sole discretion of DC Sailing Community. We reserve the right to deny a Skipper registration at all times for reasons including but not limited to a perceived lack of training or experience, or a perceived issue with the applicants character or behavior.  In some cases we may recommend a skipper applicant join an existing crew as the First Mate to gain enough experience to skipper a boat on future adventures.

DC Sailing Community may at any time fix the number of boats for a cruising adventure and at such time will recommend subsequent skipper applicants join an existing boat where their knowledge and experience will be gratefully received.
