Provisioning

  • Generally each boat will provision for all breakfasts, most lunches and three dinners to be prepared and eaten on board – refer to the itinerary for the planned onshore schedule.

    • This is not a hard and fast rule, you’ll find on occasion that you might grab an extra lunch or dinner ashore

  • Your skipper will work on a provisioning list with you. Tesco Lotus’s Thalang is the closest hypermarket and is a 30 minute taxi ride to the marina, ideal for food and alcohol provisioning. Makro Supermarket is another large and well stocked option in the same Thalang neighborhood. Alcohol is only sold in stores from 11 AM–2 PM and 5 PM–midnight every day. Moorings and Sunsail also each offer a provisioning service where you order online ahead of time and your provisions will be stowed on your boat upon arrival. You mus place your online order a minimum one week prior to your charter.

  • Leftover non-perishables will be gladly taken off your hands by a neighboring boat that is departing as you arrive back to base, or by the dock hands and boat cleaning staff at the marina.  It’s a great way to tip them for their amazing work!

  • Leftover drinks will also be gladly accepted by the marina staff.  You will work out with your skipper an appropriate level of alcohol for the week depending on everybody’s preference for wine, beer, spirits, mixers and soft drinks.

  • You may bring small items that will contribute to cooking tasty meals, such as specific dried herbs, oils, etc. – discuss with your crew mates and skipper when agreeing on provisions.  Remember, any items you bring will need to be small and unopened. Fruits and vegetables are not permitted to be brought into Thailand.

  • Make sure you let your skipper know of any food allergies or dietary needs.

  • Feel free to add or purchase separately any items that you specifically need or will make the week more enjoyable for you.

  • Duty free is a good way to grab a few bottles of any drinks you can’t find on provisioning lists.
